TRSA’s HR & Labor Management Summit Series came to a close with a pair of May 3 sessions on workplace harassment and techniques to prevent burnout and combat stress.

The final day of the summit kicked off with a presentation titled “Workplace Harassment 101” by Administrative Judge Bryan Douglas of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Douglas went over the basics of workplace harassment, including protected categories such as race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age and others. Throughout his presentation, Douglas presented scenarios for summit attendees to consider and share their thoughts on whether they thought harassment occurred.

After Douglas’ presentation, Kortney Overzet, vice president of people development & culture, Spindle, gave a presentation based on the book, the Awesome Human Project. In her interactive session, Overzet gave attendees the tools to come up with a self-care mini plan. Attendees listed three daily anchors that they can focus on doing to fuel positive energy, as well as three things that they should do less to avoid draining energy.

The HR & Labor Management Summit Series took place over three weeks. In addition to the two sessions on the final day, the Summit also included sessions on the following topics:

  • Effective HR Strategies
  • How to be a More Effective Team
  • Retention: Changing the Status Quo
  • The Art & Science of Dealing with Labor
