Provincial healthcare authorities in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, recently approved a new 10-year contract that will renew existing services with K-Bro Linen Inc. and add textiles from another six facilities that previously were processed by a competitor, according to a news release.

This move by the Fraser Health Authority, the Provincial Health Services Authority and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is expected to generate an additional $5.2 million in revenue annually for K-Bro, Canada’s largest laundry operator, the release said.

The increased volume also will clear the way for K-Bro to build another new plant with additional capacity, while closing down one of two older plants in the area. K-Bro anticipates completing work on the new state-of-the-art facility in the Vancouver area within the next 30 months, with a projected investment of up to $50 million, the release said.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to expand our long-term relationship with so many lower mainland Health Authorities, “ said Linda McCurdy, president and CEO. “We began processing healthcare volume in the Vancouver area in 2002, and we innovated and worked collaboratively with our customers over the past 14 years to earn their confidence and trust. The awarding of this contract demonstrates confidence in our ability to deliver excellent service.”
