A total of 575 companies recently received Certificates of Recognition from The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County based on their compliance with wastewater discharge rules in 2011. The Certificates of Recognition identified these companies as “good corporate citizens.”

“These companies have successfully demonstrated environmental compliance,” said Grace Robinson Chan, chief engineer and general manager of the sanitation districts, in a news release. “We appreciate and applaud their efforts because it helps us comply with our requirements and run our wastewater collection and treatment systems cost effectively.”

Chan announced the certificate awardees during a July 12 meeting of the sanitation districts’ Board of Directors.

“This is a great opportunity to build relationships between private industry and regulators,” said Cynthia Kurtz, executive director of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, regarding the program. “It’s critical that we work together if we are to rebuild the job base and economy of Los Angeles County.”
