Lapauw Expands, Hires New President

Lapauw International N.V. recently announced an expansion into the North American market with the grand opening of Lapauw USA LLC, which will provide sales, service and parts, as well as machinery manufacturing and assembly from its headquarters in Salt Lake City. Lapauw CEO Steven Renders also announced the hiring of David Bernstein to serve as the company’s president, according to a news release.

Lapauw USA will initially build its sales, service and marketing team. In the not-too-distant future, the company will start manufacturing and assembling Lapauw products in the U.S. Lapauw is a Belgian manufacturer of industrial laundry machinery.

“Today marks an important milestone in the evolution of Lapauw International, as we are achieving one of the goals we established when we acquired Lapauw in 2010, namely to bring our complete line of productive, efficient and innovative products to the North American market,” said Philippe D’heygere, president of Lapauw International. “We couldn’t be more pleased with our choice of management and sales leadership in the new company.”

Bernstein has more than two decades of experience in the textile services industry, including stints as the president of Consolidated Laundry Machinery Co.; director of plant operations and customer service of the Uniform & Textile Services Association (UTSA), which was blended with TRSA in 2008; COO of F-MATIC Inc.; and senior vice president at Turn-Key Industrial Engineering Services.

“I am honored and privileged to have been asked to build and lead Lapauw’s team here in North America,” Bernstein said. “The Lapauw brand and products are well respected around the world, and I know that North American laundries will benefit from having access to sales, service, parts and, soon, manufacturing support right here at home.”

In addition, Lapauw hired Michael Squillace as the company’s national sales manager. Squillace last worked for Garment Machinery Inc., where he provided on-premise laundry solutions to a wide variety of companies in New England.

Bernstein and Squillace will join the rest of the Lapauw International group at the ExpoDetergo trade show in Milan, Italy, from Oct. 3-6.
