Larry’s Legacy: Late CEO’s Gift Aids Students
AmeriPride Services Inc., Minnetonka, MN, recently announced the first 12 winners of a new scholarship program for the children of the company’s employees, according to a news release. The inaugural edition of the yearly Steiner Family Scholarship award program was endowed by the late Larry Steiner, a former CEO and family owner of the company who passed away on March 21.
“I know Larry would be very pleased that this program was able to help so many of our employees in its first year,” said Bill Evens, AmeriPride president & CEO. “What a great legacy he has left for the company and the employees that he loved.”
Dependents of employees from across the company are eligible to apply for the scholarships. Applicants are evaluated and selected based on a variety of factors by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest administrator of scholarship programs for corporations and foundations.
Evans said he was glad to see how many full-time college and vocational-school program students applied for the scholarships. “We were very pleased with the response and the many great and qualified candidates that applied for the award in the inaugural year of this scholarship program,” he said, adding that, “This program supports our mission to provide career development and educational opportunities for our employees and their families.”
The recipients of this year’s awards came from across the U.S. and Canada, including: Edmonton, Alberta; Fresno, CA; Lethbridge, Alberta; London, Ontario; Minneapolis, MN; Monroe, LA: Springfield, MO; Topeka, KS; Toronto, Ontario; Twin Falls, ID; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Watkinsville, GA.
