Lavatec Gets U.S. Military Base Contract

Lavatec Laundry Technology Inc. recently was awarded a contract by the U.S. government to provide new laundry equipment to the Camp Kinser airbase in Okinawa, Japan, according to a news release. Camp Kinser serves as a major logistics facility and is one of nine U.S. Marine Corps bases located on the Japanese island.

Lavatec will replace two, 110-lb. module tunnel washers and 10 dryers along with an extraction press and centrifuge that have been in place for more than 20 years. Lavatec partnered with E-Tech Inc. to install a clean side rail system that will be completely new, while the soiled side will be modified as part of the installation. The equipment is scheduled for delivery in February 2016 and installation is expected to be complete by the end of the first quarter.

“This is terrific news and we are proud to be awarded this project,” said Keith Ware, Lavatec vice president of sales. “The Camp Kinser project involved a very detailed and selective bid process with the camp’s purchasing group. Having operated our tunnels for the past 20 years, the laundry team was well aware of the durability and efficiency of our Lavatec equipment. We are very satisfied with their decision and looking forward to completing delivery and installation requirements.”
