Longtime Morgan Services VP Passes On
Bernard C. “Bernie” Bulgrin, 86, a former TRSA board member and retired vice president of operations for Morgan Services Inc., Chicago, recently passed away.
A statement from Morgan Services said that Bulgrin, Westchester, IL, served the company from 1966 to 2004, and chaired a TRSA committee for four years. He also served as a member of TRSA’s Board of Directors from 1990-’92.
Bulgrin began with Morgan Services as an industrial engineer. From there, he rose to the post of vice president of operations for all of the company’s plants. “He had an uncanny ability to lay out equipment in the most effective way and was able to find space when there didn’t appear to be any,” the statement said. “He was able to diagnose any problem and recommended effective solutions.”
Beyond effective problem-solving skills, Bulgrin developed new methods for improving Morgan Services’ overall operation. “Bernie designed Morgan’s product-quality and monitoring system, which became an industry standard,” the statement said. “He was instrumental in developing the Morgan Profitability Analysis of every new and existing Morgan customer and was always working for the betterment of the company’s systems.”
Beyond his technical expertise, Morgan Services also benefited from Bulgrin’s outgoing personality and team-building skills. “In addition to developing systems, he also helped develop people by mentoring them. He could walk in to any Morgan location and would know everyone’s name that worked there. Everyone loved him.”
Bulgrin passed away on July 25; interment followed on July 29 at Graceland Memorial Cemetery in Milwaukee.
