Kenneth K. Coor Jr., 87, passed away on March 8 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, NC. An industry veteran, he retired from Textilease Corp. after 46 years’ service—with 40 of those spent in management. UniFirst Corp. acquired the company in 2003.

A longtime activist in UTSA, Coor participated on the Plant Operations Committee and in related undertakings. He also founded the North Carolina Association of Textile Services and received its highest award, the John C. Jones Memorial Award.

Coor was involved in his community as well, including work for the Salvation Army, the Goldsboro Kiwanis Club and as a member of the board of directors for Wayne Memorial Hospital. He also was an active member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Goldsboro, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and in other church activities. For many years, he taught Sunday school at the Goldsboro Fire Department.

Survivors include daughters Emily VerSteeg (Buddy) and Sylvia Richards (Scott); a brother, Deleon Coor (Mollie); grandchildren, Shasta Kidder (Stephen), Charity VerSteeg, Ryan and Chase Richards; plus several nieces and nephews. Coor was predeceased by wife, Sallie Davenport Coor, and sisters Vera Coor and Ona Bryant.

Memorials may be made to Madison Avenue Baptist Church at 300 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, NC 27530. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Seymour Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com
