Growth in its clinic and other outpatient business has recently spurred the completion of several equipment upgrades at the Medico Healthcare Linen Service plant in Long Beach, CA, according to Greg Shames, vice president of operations. The plant is operated by American Textile Maintenance (ATM), a fourth-generation family-owned business based in Los Angeles.

He added that the new equipment includes a Metricon garment-sortation system and steam tunnel from JENSEN, plus two “automatic garment folders” also from JENSEN, which are designed to save labor while improving productivity and quality.

“In order to continue to serve our growing customer base, we’re automating several areas in the plant to increase capacity,” Shames said.

A third major project recently launched at Medico is the addition of an ETECH overhead rail system that automatically sorts and loads the wash aisle. Click here for more on Medico.
