West Michigan Uniform, an industrial independent based in Holland, MI, is gaining ground in a hotly contested market, with revenue up 70% in the past five years, according to a local news report.

“It’s definitely exciting for us, and for the employees as well,” said Patrick Van Tuinen, co-owner of the 53-year-old firm, who spoke of an addition fueled by growth that’s led to the hiring of 37 new employees in the last five years. “It is a big step.”

This third-generation family business now employs 97 people, and is outgrowing its current location. “Space has gotten tight all around,” Van Tuinen said. Consequently, West Michigan Uniform is expanding into a new building across the street from its original plant at 407 W. 17th St. This new space at 400 W. 17th St. will accommodate the company’s screen printing and embroidery operations.

The move will roughly double West Michigan Uniform’s total capacity from 55,000 to 99,000 square feet, the report said. Click here to learn more.
