MMI: Effective, Efficient Maintenance
Improve skills in overall management with a variety of workshops and panels crafted to enable the formation of effective, efficient maintenance practices. TRSA’s 26th Annual Maintenance Management Institute (MMI), set for Sept. 26-28 in Philadelphia, is the destination for engineers, maintenance and plant managers, and GMs who want to stay at the top of their game. MMI classes, combined with peer interaction, will balance discussions of technical knowledge with exploration of management and leadership styles.
Maintenance engineers continue to be the most difficult positions to recruit, train and retain, but a great resource for these roles come from the military. Keynote presenter Lisa Rosser will explore the possible untapped sources of leadership that already exist in each plant: maintenance managers. Rosser is CEO and founder of The Value of a Veteran. Using her 22-year military career and experience in operations, performance management, recruiting, staffing, training and skills development, she’ll outline 10 leadership traits that the military experience instills and how those apply directly to maintenance managers.
Workshop presenters are experts from the linen, uniform and facility services industry who know the everyday issues in keeping laundries running. Session topics include:
- Demystifying Downtime
- Leak Detection – Types and Repairs
- Teamwork in Production and Maintenance
- Workplace Safety: Reducing Slip-and-Fall Hazards
This year’s MMI includes a facilitated forum of experienced colleagues responsible for multiplant operations who will provide take-away tactics to improve preventive maintenance and generate significant bottom-line savings:

MMI’s plant tours will feature the Philadelphia-area laundries of Clean Rental Uniforms and Clemens Uniform Rental with a follow-up debriefing with plant management.
A final facilitated open forum will enable participants to participate in a Q&A of the topics covered during MMI, allowing for interaction with TRSA’s MMI task force, top industry managers who will serve as panelists. Participants can submit their topics on their registration forms, or at the event (any time before this session) and ask questions during the session.
