Mountville Mills Inc., LaGrange, GA, recently announced the combining of its textile rental division (Mountville Mills) with its janitorial supply division (Andersen Co.). Both divisions had operated as subsidiaries of Mountville. Andersen focused on the direct-sale mat market since it was acquired in 1999, according to a news release. Going forward, the combined divisions will be known as M+A Matting.

Located in LaGrange, GA, Mountville was founded in 1963, while Andersen Co. was founded in 1974 and based in Dalton, GA.

“This partnership places our combined companies at the forefront of unprecedented expansion and service within the commercial matting industry,” said CEO David Hart of Mountville Mills. The merger won’t result in any plant closings or layoffs, the release said; resources will be reallocated and positions will be added to support the change.

Tyler Fowler, M+A Matting textile rental division president, said these other Mountville Mills divisions will remain:

  • Mountville Mills Canada: Canadian textile rental and janitorial supply market
  • Logo Mats LLC: Promotional products industry
  • Mountville Mills Rubber: Manufactures rubber used in all matting products, as well as supplying the wire, cable and footwear industry.
  • Mountville Mills Europe: European commercial mat market
  • Bungalow Flooring: Residential mat market

Fowler added that the name change was designed to integrate the Mountville and Andersen brands. “There are no changes to the shareholder structure and Mountville Mills Inc. remains the parent company,” he said. The two companies are also in the process of combining their websites into one online location.

For now, customers for either company can still visit the existing sites, www.mountville.com or www.andersenco.com for information. Likewise, e-mail addresses will retain the “@mountville” structure.

Mountville is combining its manufacturing resources in LaGrange and Dalton, GA, under one management structure. This will improve the utilization of available capacity, according to a fact sheet titled Benefits of the Mountville – Andersen Merger. “We fully expect our delivery times to be faster and more accurate,” the document said.

The fact sheet also noted that demand for direct-sale mat products from laundry customers has increased. “This change will allow us to standardize our product assortment, making it easier to promote both laundry-friendly and direct-sale mats. Our customer service and sales teams also will be more knowledgeable in both areas.”

The target completion date for the merger is July 1. However, laundry operators can expect to see changes both before and after this date, due to the realignment.
