Diamond Chemical Co. Inc., East Rutherford, NJ, recently received a certificate from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for its environmental stewardship. Diamond was recognized for its renewable energy use, “for its voluntary and proactive measures taken to go beyond compliance in an effort to improve the environment and ensure a sustainable future,” according to a news release.

The company has installed a seven acre, 1.5 megawatt solar farm adjacent to its East Rutherford headquarters to provide a partial source of power for its operations. The use of solar energy lowers Diamond’s energy costs, which saves money and enhances Diamond’s competitiveness.

The solar farm also helps lower greenhouse gas emissions, thereby shrinking Diamond’s carbon footprint. This is one of Diamond’s major efforts to operate as a “green” and sustainable company.
