Access On-Demand Learning

To aid linen, uniform and facility services operators in orienting production employees to fundamental laundry processes (sorting, washing, drying, finishing and packing out items), TRSA’s On-Demand Learning Center now contains four Production Training Series. Free for member use on the Internet, these videos depict commonly used machinery and techniques for processing items for the restaurant (F&B), healthcare, hospitality (hotel) and industrial/uniform markets.

Separate videos depicting each of the five fundamental processes for each of the four markets comprise a series dedicated to that market. You register separately for each course in the On-Demand Learning Center to unlock the videos within. Each video is a recording of employees in a laundry operating machinery needed to safely and efficiently perform a process, as well as narration and depiction of steps in the overall plant flow before and after the process.

To access each series, go to the On-Demand Learning Center and select Production Training Series from the menu.

Combining all series (markets), there are 20 videos, ranging in length from just over two minutes to almost six, averaging about 3.5. They’re detailed enough to acquaint workers with their responsibilities as a first step in on-the-job training but fast enough to show to prospective hires who are candidates for performing or managing these functions.

The need for safe machine operation is highlighted. In the healthcare sorting video, for example, the presentation begins with a reference to the use of personal protective equipment and explains when to halt conveyors. Similarly, in portraying the use of vacuum tube sorting of F&B items, this video notes that ear protection is required for use of such a machine and points out the emergency stop button.
