Pennsylvania Operator Passes Away
Scott Fogelsanger, 72, State College, PA, passed away on Feb. 7. A second-generation owner/operator of Balfurd Linen & Healthcare, Fogelsanger was dedicated to the industry.
He began working for the family business his sophomore year in high school. Fogelsanger then moved on to trade schools and various memberships and business cost groups. Since taking full ownership of the business in 1980, after his father’s death, the company has grown considerably under his leadership and that of his son and eventual partner, Robert. In that time, Balfurd moved beyond a simple laundry, dry cleaning & uniform rental business to also include a large healthcare and linen supply business.
In addition to the family laundry business, Fogelsanger also owned Deer Pond Farm, where he raised Black Simmental beef cattle and various other livestock for almost 30 years. He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, running/working out, riding his Harley and various farm vehicles, doing farm chores/projects, traveling, but mostly spending time with his immediate and extended family and friends. Fogelsanger made a difference in many people’s lives and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline and eight children; a sister, Anne Beattie-Moss, of State College, PA, 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five nephews, four nieces and many cousins. Condolences for the family may be sent to his son at bob@balfurd.com.
