Register for the 12th Annual Legislative Conference

During the March 30 awards dinner at the TRSA Legislative Conference in Washington, DC, the Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services Linden, NJ, facility will be honored as the 2022 winner of the TRSA Best Plant of the Year award.

Opened in 2016, the 67,000-square-foot facility employs roughly 200 full-time equivalent employees, producing nearly 140,000 laundry pounds, and serving 26 to 28 routes while operating seven days a week.

The Hygienically Clean Healthcare certified operation uses a variety of indicators to measure performance: profitability, energy use [1,441 BTU/lb.], turnover [53%], safety [4.1% days away, job restriction, transfer rate (DART)] and the heavily tracked pounds per operator hour (POH, 213), calculated by using clean pounds shipped divided by total production hours, excluding maintenance and drivers.

Customer satisfaction is ensured through daily and weekly activities including data analytics, rounds with end users, surveys, quality fulfillment rate review and educational initiatives. Maintenance hours are 22% reactive and 78% preventive.

TRSA Industry Awards will be presented at a dinner at the 12th Annual Legislative Conference & Annual Industry Awards, scheduled for March 30-31, at the Westin Alexandria Old Town in Alexandria, VA. The Annual Industry Awards dinner also will feature the winners of the Above and Beyond Service, Clean Green Sustainability, Community Service, Diversity Recognition, SafeTRSA Safety and Video honors (previously announced).

The conference enables members to make their voices heard and educate legislators with insightful stories regarding the industry’s cleanliness, sustainability and safety records, and impacts on jobs and local economies. Members will highlight the industry’s role in mitigating COVID-19 and the importance of designating linen, uniform and facility services as essential.

For member supplier partners, the event begins March 29 with a two-hour workshop on developing skills for having difficult conversations with your customers, using examples from the industry. Legislator meetings are slated for March 31.

On the afternoon of the March 30 awards dinner, members are welcome to attend TRSA committee meetings, maximizing your membership value by prompting TRSA to act on the operational and management issues that benefit you most. These will take place in a pair of two-hour blocks: five different committees will meet from noon to 2 p.m. and five others from 2 to 4 p.m.

Also before the dinner (which starts with a 5:45 p.m. reception): keynote speaker Reid Wilson, national correspondent for The Hill newspaper, frequently seen on CNN, MSNBC, C-SPAN and other national outlets; and a Hill Day issue briefing.
