Prestige Industries LLC recently announced that it would close its Bay Shore, NY, plant, idling 141 employees, according to news reports.

Attempts to obtain a statement from the Lyndhurst, NJ, hospitality launderer were unsuccessful. However, in a layoff notice filed with the New York State Department of Labor, the company cited the “unexpected collapse of a tunnel washer system” in its Long Island plant as the reason for the closure.

Prestige, which provides textile services to hotels throughout the New York area, also has facilities in Paterson and Bergen, NJ, and processes up to 400,000 lbs. daily, the reports said. Click here for details.
