TRSA recently held its fall Production Summit & Plant Tours program, in conjunction with its annual Maintenance Management Institute (MMI), in Philadelphia. The two-day Production Summit took place on Sept. 25-26, with MMI running from Sept. 26-28. The two programs combined for a pair of plant tours on the morning of Sept. 26.

Both programs toured Clean Rental Uniforms, Philadelphia, and Clemens Uniform Rental, Lansdale, PA, located in the northwest suburbs of Philadelphia. Clean Rental operates out of a 60,000-square-foot facility in North Philadelphia with a total of 68 employees, while Clemens Uniform Rental has a brand new, automated plant that opened in Sept. 2017. The company’s previous facility was gutted by a fire on June 15, 2016. To read more about the fire at Clemens and the company’s rebuilding process, click here.

The following TRSA associate members were on hand to answer questions about the chemistry, equipment and garments during the plant tours: Automated Packaging Systems, Chicago Dryer Co., Colmac Industries Inc., Ecolab Inc., Ellis Corp., Gurtler Industries Inc., Kemco Systems Inc., PAC Industries Inc., Pellerin Milnor Corp., Positek RFID, VF Imagwear Inc. and White Conveyors.

While the plant tours closed out the two-day Production Summit agenda, they served as the starting point for three days of MMI instruction. Following the tours, MMI students had interactive classroom instruction at the institute’s host hotel, the Embassy Suites Philadelphia Airport. Topics included:

  • Workplace Safety Best Practices and Resources
  • Identifying Reasons for Downtime
  • Reducing Slip-and-Fall Hazards
  • Leak Detection and Repair
  • Preventive Maintenance to Protect your Bottom Line

The first day of the Production Summit featured several breakout sessions and panel presentations, including:

  • Implementing an Effective Ergonomics Program
  • Improving Mat-Processing Efficiencies
  • Preventing Spontaneous Combustion/Fire Prevention
  • Developing Quality-Assurance Processes to Improve Production
  • Equipment Innovations in Plant Design and Renovations
