Public Garden Wins Best Restroom Honors

A popular public garden recently captured first place in Cintas Corp.’s annual contest for the best restroom in America. Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA, the most visited public garden in America with more than 1 million guests annually, took the online vote for its creative and memorable experience, according to a news release.

Longwood Gardens features a “green wall” outside its restrooms, with etched translucent glass inside that provides natural light, reduces electricity and minimizes the need for light fixtures. As the 2014 winner of the contest, Longwood Gardens also receives a $2,500 credit to spend on Cintas services, such as restroom cleaning and supplies, cleaning chemicals or wet mops. Runner-ups include second place winner Bowl Plaza in Lucas, KS, and third place winner the Fabulous Fox Theater,St. Louis. The top three winners receive a complimentary deep clean of their restroom (a $500 value).

The 2014 contest attracted nominations from a wide range of businesses, including restaurants, a retail complex, an outdoor restroom along a running trail and a children’s toy store. Cintas selected the 10 finalists based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements.
