(l/r) TRSA members Ryan Potter, Admiral by Alsco, Houston; and Patrick Garcia, Division Laundry, San Antonio; participated in a hearing at the Texas state capitol in Austin where lawmakers heard testimony on a tax bill backed byTRSA that could benefit commercial laundries.

The Texas House of Representatives Committee on Ways & Means heard H.B. 2250 by Rep. Drew Darby late Wednesday evening, April 19.  We are pleased to announce the hearing at the state house in Austin, TX, went very well.

Our bill author, Rep. Darby, a highly respected member of the Texas House and senior member of the House Ways & Means Committee, presented the coalition’s substitute bill language to the committee members shortly after 8 p.m.

John Otto, a TRSA lobby team member, kicked off the testimony in support of the bill. Otto, who formerly served as the vice chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee, briefed committee members on the mechanics of the bill and the Legislature’s track record of fixing the same issue for other industries in the past.

Ryan Potter, general manager with Admiral by Alsco in Houston, also provided compelling testimony in support of the bill. Potter shared with the committee the significant impact that the bill would have, not only for his company, but for the local community as well.

Patrick Garcia, president of Division Laundry, San Antonio, also attended the hearing to show industry support for the measure.
