Texcare International Canceled; Texcare Asia Moved to December

Leading suppliers of laundry and dry-cleaning technology used the free cancellation deadline offered by trade show organizer Messe Frankfurt and canceled their participation in Texcare International 2021. Due to these defections, with many citing the uncertainty of the pandemic as a reason for the withdrawal, the Texcare International advisory council voted to cancel this year’s show, according to a news release.

As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Messe Frankfurt offered Texcare International exhibitors the right to cancel their participation free of charge until Sept. 3. As the months passed, the overall outlook became increasingly positive and, by the beginning of August, around 200 companies – including the largest manufacturers from all parts of the textile-care sector – had registered to exhibit at Texcare International in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1.

Factors contributing to this included the growing pace of vaccination worldwide, the categorization of trade fairs as business events, and the officially approved protection and hygiene concept of Messe Frankfurt. Nevertheless, the mood changed shortly before the cancellation deadline as leading companies decided to withdraw from the event because of uncertainties regarding the future trajectory of the pandemic created by the rise of the highly infectious delta variant of COVID-19.

“Together with our partners, we worked untiringly to stage Texcare International for the textile-care sector in autumn,” said Kerstin Horaczek, vice president of technology shows at Messe Frankfurt. “However, a leading international trade fair with a significantly reduced spectrum on show would not do justice to participants’ expectations of the fair as the most important meeting place and innovation hub for the sector. Therefore, we have decided to accept the vote of the advisory council and cancel Texcare International 2021. We are extremely sorry about this. At the same time, we are grateful for the on-going, high level of commitment demonstrated by the sector for their most important trade fair.”

Additionally, the 2021 edition of Texcare Asia & China Laundry Expo (TXCA & CLE) will now take place from Dec. 22-24 instead of its original September date. The postponement is due to uncertainty for the attendees ability to travel to Shanghai at this time, as China continues with its anti-epidemic measures following an increase in COVID cases in late July, according to a news release.

Following discussions with the trade show’s stakeholders, the organizers of TXCA & CLE made the decision to delay the event until December to provide more certainty to participants in their preparation. Taking the government’s guidelines for pandemic containment into account, it was deemed preferable to delay the show until later this year to ensure all exhibitors and visitors will be able to travel to Shanghai.

Additional public health measures will be put in place during this year’s edition. These include real identity pre-registration, entry checkpoints to verify the digital health code of all participants and on-site temperature scans. Frequent sanitization of facilities will take place, and distancing measures will be implemented for seminar attendees.

TXCA & CLE will remain at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre for the new December dates. For more details about the show, please email txcacle@china.messefrankfurt.com or txcacle@unifair.com.
