TRSA Board Member Mulls Run for Governor

Vicky Cayetano, the president of PureStar’s Hawaii region and a member of TRSA’s Board of Directors, plans to run as a Democratic candidate for governor of Hawaii, according to news reports.

According to a report from KITV4, an ABC affiliate based in Honolulu, Cayetano will file paperwork to confirm her candidacy soon. She is married to former Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano (D) and served as the state’s First Lady from 1994-2002.

Cayetano joined TRSA’s Board of Directors during the Oct. 22, 2020, business meeting at its 107th Annual Conference in Alexandria, VA. As a co-founder of United Laundry 33 years ago, Cayetano has been instrumental in its growth to serving 55 hotels, 13 hospitals and multiple airline companies today. PureStar’s Hawaii region brands include United Laundry Services, Hawaiian Linen Supply and Maui Linen Supply.

A leading businesswoman and community leader, Cayetano is widely recognized for her many accomplishments in entrepreneurship, cultural preservation and promoting better healthcare, especially for the elderly, women and children. Cayetano is past chair of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and currently serves on the board of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and the University of Hawaii Travel Industry Management School Advisory Council.

Cayetano is a longtime member of TRSA and has participated in the organization’s roundtables and conferences for many years. Cayetano’s board tenure will include her current three-year term, with eligibility for election to a second term.
