TRSA Elects New Chair, Board Members at Annual Meeting

TRSA recently held its Annual Membership Meeting on the final morning of its Annual Conference & Exchange at The Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa, CA. The new chair of the association and several board members were sworn in at the meeting.

Immediate Past Chair David Potack of Unitex, Elmsford, NY, recognized the outgoing members of the TRSA Board of Directors and thanked them for their service. A ceremony was then held to swear in the newly elected officers and directors. These include:

  • Jim Buik, chair, Roscoe Co., Chicago
  • Noel Richardson, vice chair, Shasta Linen Supply, Sacramento, CA
  • Jim Kearns, treasurer, Alsco Inc., Salt Lake City
  • Bob Dudley, APPEARA, Norfolk, NE
  • Scott Finkelstein, Ace Uniform Services Inc., Baltimore
  • Dan Sanchez, Medline Industries Inc., Mundelein, IL

Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, Tom Newell, vice president of operations at TRSA, kicked off the meeting with a review of TRSA’s financial position. For the year-to-date 2018, Newell reported the following:

  • Membership continues to grow, along with a solid renewal rate (more than 90%)
  • Strong professional development and event registrations
  • Expansion and growth of certification programs and renewals
  • Strong cash flow with year-end reserves expected to be over 100%

Newell also reported on the association’s 2019 budget and several initiatives of value to members in 2019. These include:

  • The development of a TRSA app for access to resources and notifications of news, trends and best practices, as well as polling and networking
  • Training and marketing for Hygienically Clean and the healthcare sector (Handling Clean Linen in a Healthcare Environment (Six C’s) Training)
  • Online forums and communities to increase information sharing
  • Development and launch of new market-specific benchmarks for growing sectors
  • A Hospitality Conference & Tours for this new, emerging market sector
  • The ongoing development of podcasts, a new communications channel for TRSA
  • Launch of a new safety certification program to educate and generate awareness of the value and benefits of safety to launch in spring 2019
