Prudential Overall Supply in Riverside, CA, recently hosted Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA) on a plant tour to give him an in-depth look at the operations of an industrial laundry. The tour emanated from a meeting several TRSA leaders had with Rep. Takano during the Annual Summer TRSAPAC Fly-In.

During the initial meeting, TRSA leaders discussed the importance of a skilled workforce to keep laundry plants up and running. Rep. Takano mentioned that he was working with community colleges and technical schools to develop a curriculum that better suits the needs of today’s employers.

The tour started with an introduction to Prudential Overall Supply by Tom Watts, Prudential president. During the introduction, Watts discussed the company’s history, as well as the employee benefits offered by the company. “We are really proud of our staff here, the average tenure of staff is 18 years,” Watts said.

The congressman then toured the plant floor including soil sort, the wash aisle, finishing and storage. Rep. Takano mentioned how the tour put much of his previous conversations with TRSA representatives in perspective giving him a much better understanding of how the industry operates. He also mentioned that it clarified how the issues the industry faces have an effect on operations.

After the tour, Rep. Takano spent time with Prudential employees as a group, learning more from them as to their thoughts on working for the company and the benefits they receive. The tour concluded with the employees presenting Rep. Takano with a personalized Prudential Overall Supply work shirt.
