Virtual Roundtable Series on New Plant Construction Kicks Off March 16

Linen and uniform services pressed for decades to retain production employees have been relieved to an extent by adopting less labor-intensive technologies most easily accommodated by new or expanded plant floor space. Productivity increases and jobs are more ergonomically sound. In an upcoming series of TRSA virtual roundtable discussions, one member company will facilitate conversation based on its experience starting with a “blank piece of paper” and hitting the “drawing board” with these goals in mind.

Arway Linen and Uniform Rental Service, Philadelphia, begins the series at 1 p.m. EDT on March 16 by sharing lessons learned in the early stages of planning to replace its legacy facility by leaving its current location for an existing empty structure crosstown. This discussion and the next two (June 22, November 30) enables you to compare tactics you’ve used or contemplated to re-engineer your business, as you benefit from Arway’s experience as well as those of other linen and uniform service operators doing the same.

Learn how the company reached the conclusion that the relocation was necessary to sustain growth and join industry peers in discussing and contrasting the business conditions they faced and the methods to thrive they chose accordingly.

The March 16 installment addresses:

  • Finding the right building
  • Assembling outside experts: architecture, engineering, contractors and industry-specific
  • Envisioning and modifying a floor plan for maximum productivity
  • Estimating costs and availability of equipment
  • Working with lenders
  • Setting the timetable

Arway presenters will be Mario Stagliano, chair, TRSA’s F&B/Hospitality Committee, and Mark Harad-Oaks. They have been regular participants in TRSA virtual roundtables, particularly as their experience has applied to selling, serving and producing for F&B customers, their primary market segment.

Virtual roundtables are free to TRSA members and $45 for nonmembers. Click here to register for the March 16 event.
