World Emblem of Mexico Aces ‘Social Compliance’ Audit
World Emblem of Mexico recently passed Sumerra’s social compliance audit with a perfect score in every department, according to a news release. Sumerra is a worldwide auditing company whose purpose is to ensure safe conditions, workers’ rights and environmental stewardship; focusing on the needs of brands, factories, licensees and other associations who are striving to improve working conditions and reduce risks worldwide.
This audit ensures that World Emblem complies with all domestic rules and some specific U.S. law requirements, all related to the health, safety and work conditions of its employees.
Sumerra’s audit consists of three main parts:
- Installation inspection: Verification that the location complies with all health and safety regulations.
- Work conditions and documentation: The auditor requests employees’ information for different dates in the previous 12 months (payroll receipts, employees files, medical conditions/records, etc.) and validates that all payments and deductions are done according to the law.
- Personnel interviews: The auditor chooses randomly which employees will be interviewed and questioned on overall work conditions, opinions, comments and complaints on the way they are treated and taken care of at World Emblem.
The results were a major accomplishment since World Emblem of Mexico recently moved its entire location to a larger new facility, the release said. Alberto Albarran, general manager at World Emblem of Mexico, said that “the employees are the most critical and important part of our company.” He added that audits help the company ensure that the company is giving the employees the best possible work conditions.
