Scholarships

An applicant must be a full-time employee of a TRSA member company in good standing for at least three years. Also, the employee must be employed by the sponsoring member company for at least one year. Note: In the case of a multi-industry company, the employee must be employed in a division relating to the linen, uniform and facility services industry. Both operator and supplier partner member companies are eligible to apply.

Applicants should review the EMI and PMI program descriptions to determine which institute best aligns with their experience level and career goals.

Applicants are evaluated based on their current role, responsibilities and leadership potential, with priority given to:

• Minimum 5 years of industry experience for EMI applicants; 3 years for PMI.
• Career linen, uniform and facility services professionals ready to assume greater roles and responsibilities within the industry.
• Commitment to completing the full program:
  • EMI: Four one-week sessions held each August over four years. (H. Kent Baker EMI Scholarship covers Year 1/Session 1.)
  • PMI: Two one-week sessions held each November over two years. The program begins with four days of classroom training, followed by 12 months of self-paced online modules, and concludes with a second four-day session. (Scholarship covers Year 1/Session 1.)

Applications are due April 17. Applicants must submit the following materials:

• Online application, including:
  • Personal statement outlining career path, including potential next roles, advancement opportunities and long-term professional goals.
  • Names of three references familiar with the applicant’s current role and responsibilities (letters of reference not required)
• Letter of support from the applicant’s employer, emailed to scholarships@trsa.org.

Each selected company will receive complimentary Year 1 registration for one employee to attend either EMI or PMI. While registration costs are covered, travel-related expenses (e.g., hotel, transportation and meals) are not included and must be paid by the recipient’s organization. It is estimated the scholarship will cover approximately 50% of the total Year 1 expenses.
