Acid Test: Save Money and the Environment

There are some members that have yet to convince their local POTWs that feeding acid to neutralize their wastewater discharge is environmentally unsound. It really is unsound! 
 
Many studies have shown that there is no benefit to alkaline pH control under 12.0 S.U. (Standard Units). POTW’s operate more effectively in the alkaline pH ranges. Acidic water tends to solublize (i.e., dissolve) heavy metals and make them more likely to pass through the treatment plant.
