Author’s note: On June 1, I received an email from Preston McElheney touting radio frequency identification (RFID). McElheney, the president of single-plant Halifax Linen in Roanoke Rapids, NC, wrote: “Here’s an example of why RFID is a good thing for this industry! One-hundred-forty-three consecutive working days (and) not one shortage!
