Avoiding Heat Stress—A Challenge for Laundries
A commercial or institutional laundry can get very warm due to all the operating equipment, such as dryers and ironers, that generate heat. Operators need to take special care to manage these risks, particularly in areas with year-round warm weather, and in all areas during the spring and summer months.
Heat stress happens when the human body is unable to cool itself through perspiration. Consequently, several heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion and the more severe heatstroke can occur.
