Boiler OPS—The Engine That Drives Alsco’s Lanham, MD, Plant

During a recent visit to the mechanical room of Alsco Uniforms’ 85,000-square-foot (7,896-square-meter) laundry in Lanham, MD, we learned that while production has largely bounced back from the COVID-19 pandemic, challenges remain—not the least of which is supply-chain bottlenecks.

Specifically, at press time, Chief Engineer Alwin Cruz was awaiting delivery of a new burner that was ordered several weeks ago for the plant’s 750 HP boiler. Cruz and General Manager Ryan Barry say they can carry on with the existing burner for now but hope to get the new one in soon.
