Chlorine Bleach—Not the Only Laundry Option

This letter is in regard to the article, Tough Targets by Dr. Nathan L. Belkin, Ph.D. that appeared in the April issue of Textile Rental. In the article, Dr. Belkin wrote, “It emphasizes the importance of using a chemical formulation that includes an agent that disinfects—i.e., one that kills or destroys nearly all disease-producing microorganisms, with the exception of bacterial spores. That chemical is sodium hypochlorite, also known as chlorine bleach.”
 
Ecolab takes exception to this statement. Products claiming to disinfect laundry must be registered with U.S. EPA’s Antimicrobial Division. According to ...
