William ‘Bill’ Pulley, 94, passed away on Jan. 18. Pulley’s career began in 1952 at his father Verlin L. Pulley’s dry-cleaning business, Capitol Varsity. Over several years, Bill built the dry-cleaning business into one of the largest chains in the U.S. As the market shifted to ready-to-wear apparel in the 1970s, Bill launched Apparelmaster Inc., a rental workwear franchise business based in Harrison, OH. The company had 300 franchisees in six countries before it was sold to Johnson Group Cleaners PLC in 1983. Bill’s appreciation for Verlin’s work ethic inspired him to donate funds for Pulley ...
