Eateries Balk at Surcharges
Restaurateurs facing rising fuel surcharges from vendors are beginning to question the practice and are looking at cost-cutting measures—including eliminating linen services—according to a recent article in Nation’s Restaurant News.
The May 26 report, titled “Industry Acts to Blunt Effect of Fuel Surcharges,” says routine surcharges of 4% to 7% are leading restaurants to “rethink purchasing practices and delivery schedules,” rather than raise prices.
