The international laundry world has lost one of its pioneers with the passing of H. J. (John) Weir of Chepstow, England. Weir is known worldwide for his 50-year career of creating innovations in the area of flatwork feeding and folding. Many of the first automated spreaders sold by American Laundry Machinery in the 1960s, Jensen Corp. in the 1970s, and many other manufacturers were designed and patented by Weir.
