Cross-Training Programs: Enhance Productivity and Flexibility

At Doritex Corp., cross-training is slowly being woven into the organization’s culture.
 
Employees in accounts receivable and accounts payable are cross-trained to perform each other’s job. The receptionist is skilled at taking customer orders, while customer-service employees are equipped to handle office phones. Even new hires are cross-trained in different positions over a three-day period. They start out in the hanging station, move to sorting, then mending for their last day of training.
