Dealing with Diversity at Work

Fifty years ago, the workforce in textile rental industry plants was fairly homogeneous. The vast majority of workers were American citizens. English was their primary language. Employees wore the same basic clothing styles. A majority of your workforce probably were born and raised within 50 miles of the plant in which they worked. 
 
In those days, employment was an opportunity—not an entitlement. The employer established the rules to be followed in the workplace. And as long as those rules were applied equally to all employees, the employer could fire employees who didn’t follow the rules.
