TRSA and UTSA jointly plan to measure the transition to environmentally friendly washroom chemicals through our voluntary LaundryESP® program. As part of our original program, we initiated a goal of a 10% to 25% substitution of “green” washroom formulations. This outcome was achieved and reported in the 2002 survey. 
 
Changing—voluntarily—with the times
 
Currently, the environmental community and EPA seem to be relying more on voluntary efforts, than on regulation based on technically based standards. This approach is faster and less expensive, and can be adapted to our ESP program.
