EPA Boiler Rule— A Victory for Common Sense

Back in February, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued rules on industrial and commercial boilers and incinerators. The rules established national emissions standards for hazardous air pollutants for both area source and major source industrial, commercial and institutional boilers and process heaters.
 
Major sources are those that emit 10 tons per year or more of any single hazardous air pollutant, or 25 tons per year or more of any combination of toxic pollutants. Facilities that emit less are area sources. These are subject to less-stringent emissions standards.
