EPA’s ‘SDSI’ Initiative—Don’t Confuse Them with Facts

The laundry industry recently was invited to speak on a panel at the National Association of Clean Water Agencies’ (NACWA) National Pretreatment and Pollution Prevention Workshop in New Orleans. The subject of the panel was a case study on nonylphenol ethoxylates and EPA’s Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative (SDSI). The theme of the conference was pretreatment policy and emerging pollutants and how to deal with them. Issues with pharmaceuticals, consumer products and mercury were also on the agenda at the Oct. 4-6 meeting.
