Aging of Baby Boomers and Generation X in coming decades has long been anticipated to boost the ranks of the oldest segments of the U.S. population. Their departure from their peak-earning years and reports of their thin retirement savings are rarely viewed as pluses for the economy as a whole, although healthcare launderers expect to benefit. What of the opposite end of the population spectrum? Growth on that side points to more business for restaurants and hotels, too. There will be more younger people—their prime customers—as well.
