Given the high costs of running on-premise laundries (OPLs), why haven’t more hotels outsourced their laundry operations?
"Many hoteliers think that “outsourcing” their laundry takes control away from them. Also, many of the hotels are owned by real estate companies or others, and there seems to be a perception that the property is more saleable with a laundry. In my experience, many of the operators would prefer to NOT have a laundry but are overridden by the property owner. Also, unfortunately, some of our brethren in the consulting end of the business see the OPLs in hotels as sources of revenue.
