Homeland Security—’50s Style

But as the 109th Congress convenes this month, national security issues—including the situation in Iraq—could overshadow domestic concerns on Capitol Hill. Back in 1957, federal lawmakers—plus a newly re-elected President Dwight Eisenhower—faced similar concerns stemming from the Cold War.
