I2P2: OSHA’s Next Big Workplace Safety Rule
For the better part of two years, the Obama administration has made considerable noise about its plans to enact a new OSHA rule that could significantly change employers’ obligations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. While the administration has been cagey with the details of its proposal, the Injury and Illness Prevention Program—dubbed “I2P2”—could, for the first time, require all employers to proactively identify and address hazards in its workplace rather than simply address those hazards identified in OSHA’s standards.
