Industry Advocacy No Joking Matter

This is an election year, and as expected the upcoming presidential contest is dominating the news cycle. There is nonstop coverage by the media’s “talking heads” and it’s providing the late-night talk show hosts with almost unlimited material for their monologue jokes. Some people claim this is a recent phenomenon, but it’s not. A famous person from Oklahoma once said “I don’t make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.” That famous person is actually not me. It was Will Rodgers, and the quote is from the 1920s, almost 100 years ago.
