Winter is upon us and it’s time again to re-evaluate your boiler system. The recent decline in fuel costs from the all-time high of oil at $140 per barrel and $15 natural gas shouldn’t make us scale back our efforts to reduce “therms per 100 weight.” You should continue to ‘green up’ and reduce your “carbon footprint.” That effort should start in the boiler room. Steam boilers generally consume about 66% of the fuel used, and dryers generally consume the balance.
