Boeing Closing GA Plant
Officials at Boeing recently announced plans to close a cargo plant facility in Macon, GA, with the loss of about 120 jobs, according to an online post at www.manufacturing.net/news post of an article by the Associated Press.
Local officials, including Mayor Robert Reicher, were disappointed because the company had announced about a year ago plans to convert the plant to produce commercial aircraft and add 200 additional jobs. Boeing officials said the closure reflect reduced demand for large cargo aircraft.
