Manufacturing Fatalities up Slightly in ’15
 
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) recently showed a slight uptick in fatalities among manufacturers, but statistics varied by sector, according to news reports. 
 
For example, fabricated metals saw a jump from 34 workplace deaths in 2014 to 66 in 2015. 
 
By contrast, food processing—a specialty area for textile services companies—saw fatalities drop from 56 to 44 in the same period. 
 
Overall, work-related fatalities among manufacturers rose to 353 deaths in ’15 vs. 349 in ’14. But ...
