Good Intentions Gone Awry: Disinfectant Overuse Implicated in Illnesses
Disinfectant overuse is partly to blame for 21 nurses suffering from dizziness in a Vermont hospital, according to Becker’s Clinical Leadership & Infection Control, an enewsletter. The Vermont Department of Health’s radiological science program reported that the nurses used too much disinfectant in attempts to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The investigation adds that staff may inadvertently have combined chemicals and used Oxivir Five 16 concentrate, a cleaning chemical. While the symptoms were too varied for officials to pinpoint a cause, staff returning to their jobs this fall ...
