Growing Number of Manufacturing Jobs Helps Lower Unemployment
The Department of Labor confirmed that the U.S. economy added 38,000 new manufacturing jobs in October 2020, according to Industry Week.
This addition contributed to the unemployment dropping a full percentage point to 6.9%. Durable goods manufacturing added 21,000 jobs, fabricated metal products added 7,200 jobs, and machinery manufacturers hired 3,900 more people.
Despite these new jobs, the number of manufacturing jobs is still 621,000 less than where it was in February before the COVID-19 pandemic. Since July, however, manufacturing job growth has remained between 29,000-60,000 jobs per month ...
